totems (and mines and traps) hard cast spells for the player, the totem is not a trigger gem.

Depends on how you define work.

I think it would work in the sense that it will summon two totems. If you don't have Ancestral Bond your first totem will disappear immediately.

It´s clearly stated that it won´t work. Still i don´t understand why they don´t allow Echo to work with totems. It would have finally allowed dual totem builds to be viable in later stages of the game.

Totems are a huge drawback, since they die way to quickly and you can´t deal damage with with your spells. Still they have been nerfed continueously, because the clearspeed of the Sporktotembuild was too high. With the buffs to Discharge (new Vaal Pact) or insanely OP items like CoE you have way higher clearspeed than with those oldschool dual totem builds. Echo could have been that small buff dual totem builds desperately needed.

Sure, in the last Botw we saw a viable dual totem build but the amount of super expensive gear neeeded to make it viable is insane. I really would like to hear about the reasoning why GGG thinks Sporktotem builds would be OP in comparison to the existing Discharge, CoC or low life builds.

IMO totems more then echo needs more life!
..and maybe there should be some penalty re-balance now.

I am not sure if this is of any use but whenever I get lucky enough to find an Echo shrine ( it gives the "Your spells echo" effect) it does affect my flame totem, greatly increasing my damage.

It may or may not be the same for the gem, I'm hoping it will work on it.
