Freezing pulse, Cold to fire, Avatar of Fire.

100% Fire.

+ 3 dragons

you are now playing with a skill called freezing pulse that deals fire damage and applies lightning shocks... what...

Something needs to be done about how restrictive the keystone is.
I'm talking about getting 100% fire damage from a 100% physical attack or spell

To get 100% phys to fire without using infernal blow/blackgleam/a cold attack with cold-fire you require
2. Chernobog's Pillar - 25% phys to fire
You lose your shield slot, the second most defensive gear slot after your chest piece.
1. Hrimsorrow - 25% phys to cold
You lose your glove slot, the most utility orientated gear piece in my opinion.
3. Cold to fire support gem - last 25% cold to fire
You lose a support gem, usually equivalent to about 20-30% overall power of a skill.

You lose 2 item slots and a support gem just to reach 100% damage effectiveness. It is never going to be comparable to a standard build with requirements this harsh. Please take a look into this keystone, it has such awesome potential but it's impossible to make a build with it that can't be done better the normal way.

With 75% you could sacrifice either your shield slot, or use Hrimsorrow and cold to fire. But not both, both is too much.

Avatar of fire should be Avatar of Ice or Avatar of lightning. Fire is good only for dedicated spells like Flameblast or Exploding Arrow.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
I played a molten strike AoF marauder during the 2W charity race ..... it was ridiculous.

I succeeded in killing the cruel weaver before it could vanish for its second "form" .... and I was not over leveled.

AoE can already be really powerful, it's not meant to be used with any skillset/setup, it's just niche imho.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
^Weaver has lightning resistance and molten strike has 120% + x3/75% effectiveness on large targets.

Just saying, that don't amaze me :D!

Peace,

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
I read the OP and what I think to myself is decidedly not "Avatar of Fire needs to be 75%." What I think instead is "Chernobog's Pillar should convert 30-50% just like Blackgleam."
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I guess changing avatar of fire itself gives a couple more options for gearing. I'd hate to see Cherno's become mandatory, and thus ruling out any build that might need to take advantage of a unique shield. Keep the versatility up ya know. The effect is still the same.

It's not mandatory, because you can still use Infernal Blow or Molten Strike. However, if you want to use a "non Avatar of Fire" skill with Avatar of Fire, I imagine a unique should be required.

its meant to be for niche builds and not the next best OP build people faceroll the entire game with. Im very happy with my avatar as she has fire spear, burning cascade and fire arc thx to this keystone.

Uh read the title again, and maybe read my post as well. I was talking about physical attacks, and increasing the versatility of AoF. It has nothing to do with Cold spells which already function fine with AoF.

Thanks for clarifying. I think its just one of those things you have to work harder for with some skills and items and damage types. Thats kinda how i see it. I want to try a new Avatar eventually with a melee weapon and phys conversion and see how that goes.

It's currently used in no upper tier build. You can make gimmick builds all you want but keystones like this should have the ability to scale into something better. It definitely needs work.

But you can already use molten strike or infernal blow without Cherno's... And a unique would still be required anyway but it's up to the player to decide which one they use. What's wrong with having a choice between Hrimsorrow or Chernobog's?

Please change AoF for the next content update. I'd very much like to play a pure fire build but everything that I theorycraft comes up considerably worse than what can be done normally. If someone can show me a build which is done better as AoF please show me and I'll take back everything I've said about it, but right now it really seems there is not even a point in it being in the game.

And with the addition of Pyre, any AoF cold spell build can now be done much better if you don't rely on hit and run tactics.
