How do Alts work in this game?

So, I am new to POE, and I love the game very much. I have a 27 ranger who I love playing as but I am curious as to how making an alt works in this game. Is it possible to twink, besides just keeping every piece of rare equipment that you pick up? I noticed some of the orbs seem to give you the ability to twink a bit maybe (like the Orbs that change things into rares or magic items).
Also, I should ask, are we even able to twink a character, or is that frowned upon, or even disallowed by the POE team? Very noobish to this game so I want to ask knowledgeable people before I try. |

For every new character you make, your main character gains +1% all stats, damage and defenses per 10 levels on every alt.
(b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted.

Dirk, I apologize. I made a new account just to post, as I couldn't figure out if I used my Steam account to log into the forums. It was not my intent to deceive. I do have a ranger at 27th level, on my Steam account. Again, I apologize.

You make a new char and thats it. Shared stash across the same league.
This is not an MMO. So the 1 char rule doesnt apply here. You get 24 chars slots for free. Fill them up. |

This is PoE and you are free to do as you please, even if you find a way to abuse game mechanics, cheat other players or kill them in hardcore leagues. Nothing is frowned upon.
