Item level and sockets CONFUSED!
The /itemlevel also limits the prefixes and suffixes that can be added to an item. See the Mods documentation for more.

like everyone has mentioned it's all about itemlevel
as such it would be nice if itemlevel was an attribute displayed in the item tooltip/description. |

" i would assume that the higher level the item is, the better its base stats? also like someone else mentioned, it would affect he prefixes and suffixes |

What's the item level cut-off for 5 sockets? This used to be in the mechanics thread but disappeared...

" You mean the lowest ilvl to be able to roll 5 sockets? If yes, then it's 35, 6 starts from 50. Love your avatar by the way :) |

" Yup, I meant lowest ilvl possible for 5 sockets. :) I thought it was in the 30s but I wanted to double check. Thanks a lot, both for the info and the complement! :) Last edited by ac429#4687 on Feb 8, 2013, 4:16:46 AM

Related question... if you have a ilvl > 50 item that you want six sockets on, how hard is it to roll that? I know that getting 6 linked ones is basicly not worth the trouble, but wondering if I should keep my unique armor at 5 sockets (after I used a handful orbs), or if I should keep going until I get 6 (which would likely make it easier to get 5 linked ones with fusings later)

Like most things in the crafting system, it all comes down to luck. I've heard of some people managing it with a few jeweler orbs, and I watched Kripparrian go through quite a few stacks of orbs trying to get 6 sockets.
