Look for someone who is obviously trying to scam or sell something over priced, message them seeming as eager as possible.

Pretend you have a bad connection or have trouble communicating so they have a reason to be patient.

Offer them the 450 ex or whatever they want for their 130 dps sword and then slowly proceed to draw obscene images or words in the trade box with gems.

See how long they can hold out staring at a gem penis, record results.

My record is 17 minutes, he really thought his rathpith was worth 32 ex :( made my damn day though.

Edit: bonus points if you alt f4 mid trade and pretend you disconnected, see if they will waste time to try again.

I hate to say it but that shit is fucking hilarious....counter productive but funny.

On topic...just stop picking them up.

Lol this is so true, sums up traders aka greedy people perfectly.

"no one trades, game is dead" -> no shit, everyone is a noob and already quit the 4 month league even though its 1 more month to go and theyre on xyz like almost all the time instead of spamming the trade chat.

"no parties, game is dead" -> I could just as well say, Disco is empty, QQ, just because youre late to the party doesnt mean there isnt one.

But to the topic at hand, it was mentioned theyre looking for a solution and when they get around to it, which they will, they give us some gem sink.

I think having something like vendoring two gems with X% quality gives a gem with X+1% quality. Gem level is equal to the max of the two gems.

This way, say you have a level 16 gem your char is using, and you drop a level 1 version of the same gem. You vendor them both, receiving a level 16 with 1% quality. A minor upgrade, but nice. In order to upgrade again, you would need another 1% gem of the same type or 2 non-quality gems which you could combine to make a 1% gem.

Why have the level be the max of the two? This allows this upgrade system to be applied directly to your character, not just to gems sitting in your stash. You dont want to be constantly re-leveling gems, you would never bother swapping it out.

This would be a massive gem sink, but would not be overpowered since to get a 20% gem from non-quality ones would take 2^20 gems of the same type - there probably arent that many gems across all accounts. Even botting chars to a1n wouldnt be worth it to supply quality gems.

Ok. Think about this. How would 20 0%quality gems get you +20% quality when it would take about 100 quality gems to do the same thing using the GCP recipe? I guess I don't understand your suggestion well enough to see where your 2^20 comes in.
