whats the big deal with strand maps?

I see people in game (even high levle players) and on other forums specifically wanting strand maps, and they're paying a bit better than what they'd be if it were a different 71 map

You walk a straight line, don't have to search for the mobs, and the boss is super easy.
I love this map.

If I could, I would only play:

67 mountain ledge map
71 strand map
74 gorge map
75 Plateau map

I've never seen anyone specifically wanting Strand maps.

But I guess if I were to give a reason it would be because the map is super straightforward and is thus very efficient to run timewise.

The most efficient (and a map I see requested a lot) are Gorge maps. For the exact same reason x5.

do map bosses that resemble bosses (like necropolis Merveil) drop loot any better than other map bosses that are just a random mosnter?

Absolutely not.

Hence you have all the reasons in the world to skip Piety and Dominus.
All map bosses should drop the same "quality" of loot.

Map level, magic find, map mods and pure RNG have a significant influence, of course.

But Map Merveil (75 Necropolis) shouldn't drop any better than the Map Rhoa (Plateau 75).

Underground Sea has crap pack size spawning.

Canyon is actually quite wide so when you do the map you waste time backtracking.
Yes, I forgot 70 Underground Sea and 73 Canyon, they are also pretty straightforward.

I usually follow the wall on one side, kill the boss, then go back on the other side.
Then /remaining is usually <10 and I leave. ;)

Good solution. I can try that next time I run it.

Funny how it's so easy to maintain a high map pool now that so many of my maps are just hammertimed nowadays.
