You cannot buy points for someone else directly, but GGG recently added a new payment method Karma Coin which is a giftcard. Meaning you can buy these and give your friend the code.

Also if you use them you get a free

Although they are from USA you can buy them online like i did from http://www.pcgamesupply.com/buygames/Karma-Koin/

EDIT: Original Annoucement from GGG : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1104844

Although afaik the voidgate still works even though it is past 16th.

It depends how much you and your friend trust each other. I remember one of my guildies willing to buy some points. He didn't have a PayPal account, so considering that we always talked and he helped me many times in-game without asking anything in return I told him I'll hook him up (RMT confirmed! :D). He gave me access to his account I simply bought him points using my own PayPal. I hope Chris Wilson won't kick my door and ban me with his hammer when he reads it.

I asked support to transfer five (5!) coins from my account to another dudes. They told they handed the request on to "Management", and then they never heard back. So I guess not. At least it was disappointing.

They're afraid that if they allow it that people will start trading points for services or goods and in a sense be sponsoring pay-to-win. They allow it when it's clearly a gift, but the burden of proof is on the players.

Better just to find a different gift.
Its possible to anonymously gift supporter packs. Just contact support and inform them of what you'd like to do. They're very accommodating and helpful.
If you send us an email we will be more than happy to look into helping you out with this.
Please contact support@grindinggear.com if you need any help.
