Barrage + Lesser Multiple Projectiles?

Is it a good idea? When I pair them up, the skill's dps goes down. Does that mean it takes more time for it to fire all of them? Because that means it's practically a downgrade to the skill. If they are indeed a bad match, which skill does go well with it? I paired it up with split shot, but it had too much spread and tended to miss more than before. I am currently using it along with puncture, although I'm not so sure about that either. I also use rain of arrows quite often and have fire arrow, poison arrow, and frost arrow, though I don't really use the last three.

LMP is mostly used with Lightning arrow. You just have to read LA's description to see the synergy is very good (9 hits potential). And we add Chain or Pierce on top of it for even more hits, even if it's further reduces damage in case on Chain.
Barrage doesn't need LMP at all, it will get more from Faster attack. And it's generally used in cast on crit builds, to trigger the spell attached with the cast on crit gem. Ranger builds list: /917964
