What is with people trading 1 chaos orb for 3 vaal orbs (ambush)
?????????
I've just had two idiots talking to me about trading Vaal Orbs. One offered a Fusing for a Vaal (because he reasoned that the exchange rate is somehow 1 Chaos Orb = 3 Vaal Orbs). The other just stupidly said "it's always been like this". Why do people think like this? |

I'd much rather have Chaos orbs than Vaal orbs, so that exchange rate sounds about right to me. Why do you value Vaal orbs so high?
Actually, I have some Vaal orbs I can trade you. How many chaos will you give me for them? Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN> Play Nice and Show Some Class www.theamazonbasin.com Last edited by mark1030#3643 on May 12, 2014, 2:20:32 AM

" The "official" rate according to 2 currency exchange rate websites are 2 chaos = 1 vaal orb. But if you think they aren't worth much let's do the 3 vaal = 1 chaos orb trade. |

" a chaos for 3 vaal sounds about right, I thought this community would learn not to look at online charts after the disaster in beta |

" I used to buy them at 5:1c, these days (since their drop rate nerf) I've had to been buying them at 3:1c. There is no "official" conversion rate, and if there were it sure as hell wouldn't be set by some idiot 3rd party site updated god knows how frequently. The only "official" ratio table you can rely on is the one you write yourself that pertains solely to you. (I keep a document open 24/7 that I update myself with the rates I pay for each orb, adjusted constantly to what people are buying and selling and at what rate) You also need to factor ease of access to supply into the equasion - while I pay 1:3 for Vaals I would never sell them at such a rate right now. Personally I would never sell them at all, as I use so many and they are harder to acquire than their typical trade value implies. (ie there is no limit to how many I'm willing to buy at 3:1c. This is a similar situation to Divine Orbs in the market) If I had easy access to a large supply of them at such a rate, I would then open up my selling paramater on them to being willing to sell them at better rates to others. (ie 2:1c, even 2.5:1c if the private supply was very large) #currencymarkets +1 Shavs Project -----> /1075009

" Meaning to you personally 3 Vaals to 1 Chaos is a low price. I do understand the complexity inherent in Vaal Orbs though. It's like an extreme version of the Chisel. You either don't need it at all (early game to mid/endgame) or you need a lot of them (endgame to ultra rich unique / 20% gem rolling). Last edited by elitedesolator#6827 on May 12, 2014, 3:53:17 AM

For me chaos orbs are just currency. I never actually use them as i can always afford to buy something better with it then the result of me using them would be. So maybe vaal orbs have a correct price but chaos orbs are priced much higher than their usefullness in crafting is. That's because everybody is using them as a currency. Same like real life gold, really.

" Have to agree with you on Chaos just been a currency item, but we need to break the economy within the game as prices are really out of control. Everyone wants huge amounts of chaos/exalts for item. We should start giving away uniques that have zero value to our own playing style. I gave away a huge amount of uniques for free on the chat trade channel the other day. Its amazing how long it actually took guys to take up the offer. Did one at a time so that not just one person snatched them all up. When I started the game someone did this to me, and was I grateful, as it helped me build a reave build up quicker than I would of without the items. And Really how many of one item do we really need to keep? Saw the other day that one guy corrupted 30 boots and then tried to sell them for 1 Chaos. come on.... Take for instance a Shavronne's Wrappings, I read somewhere a guy started to save for one and if memory servers me correct it started at 25 exalts, when he got that it was 50, when he got that it was 75 exalts. Now I see the prices touching 80 to 200 odd exalts now. Who gets 100 exalts anyways, just finding one or two is hard enough. As for this c/o and b/o its a load of bull. Do you or don't you want to sell? These days I make an offer and if not take I go to the next person on poe.xyz. Had some real nice gamer's I've dealt with and some real nasty pieces of work who think they are the kings of the game. After all it's a game not so? So something needs to be done and quickly, otherwise the game is going to become un-affordable for new players, which I feel it is already so. That is my take on the issue and it might suck for some but I feel it has some merit. To Die Is Not An Option, To Fight Until DIESync Is The Only Answer. ☺☻☺

On Ambush vaal sell 2:1c at worst, and 1:1c if you're patient. I would never sell 3:1, or even 2:1 since chaos are relatively easier to get.

" well for starters, there is no "offical" exchange rate websites, the closest thing to one would be http://poexchange.info/rates/ambush/ because it's based off of trades that are actually occuring and is not owned/paid for by RMT websites. It lists vaal orbs as 2:1c Also, exchange rates flutuate in the market frequently, especially for the less traded currencies since it's a barter market. compared to exalts and chaos which are more stable, vaal orbs don't move in high volume so that 2:1c can easily become 3:1c when demand is low. Lastly, vaal orbs just don't have much use in the game. You can only ever use 1 vaal orb on any piece of gear, which most people don't do because of the high probability that you will brick your gear. I mean people aren't just pulling hundreds of lvl 20/20% gems out of their pockets to vaal...
