Small question regarding Vaal Orbs & Skill Gems

When you corrupt a Skill Gem, does it change them to a random level (that can possibly be above 20), or does it just allow the gems to be leveled past 20 normally?
I ask because I was planning to save my Vaal Orbs until my Skills hit level 20, do the "go back to level 1, but get 20% quality" recipe with them, then corrupt them and level them up to 30. Also, I just got to the point where a quest is giving me a choice between the two "Offering" spells, which one would you recommend? |

" Doesn't change to a random level at all - here is a summary of what it can do: -Increase level by 1 to maximum of 21 -Decrease level by 1 -Add quality to maximum of 23% -Remove quality -Turn into Vaal Skill Gem of same base Also, you underestimate the amount of time it takes to level gems to 20 I think, you won't get them to level 20 before level 90. If you play summoner, then I would choose defensive, if you don't then it doesn't matter. So if you wanted to get a Skill Gem up to level 25 (for example), you'd have to use 5 Vaal Orbs on a level 20 gem (assuming you got lucky and they all gave the "+1 Level" result?)
If that's the case I'll probably just trade my Vaal Orbs for something else. Another question has come to me though: Can you use +Quality Items like Whetstones on Corrupted Items? An item that has been corrupted by the use of Vaal gem can no longer be modified in any way.
This includes rolling additional orbs on the item, like another Vaal gem or a Gemcutter's prism or a Whetstone or a Scrap, or any other type of currency, including Chromatic and Jeweller's and Fuses. You cannot have a SKILLGEM above level 21.
you however can have a SKILL higher than lvl 21: +skill level items +empower support gem Forums are SOOO much fun on patch day!
Casuals play because it's fun, not to achieve any goal unreachable with their resources. We are playing for the next difficulty, the next keystone, the next item upgrade. Not to feel better than anyone else. |
