Shield Charge needs some Love

Skill:
Charges at an enemy, bashing it with the character's shield while striking with a melee weapon. This knocks it back and stuns it. Enemies in the way are pushed to the side. Damage and stun are proportional to distance traveled.


THE BAD:
* You need to have a target selected beforehand
* If the target moves you do no damage
* No more 100% hit chance, can still miss even if you clicked a target and it didn't move
* The knock back is nearly non existent, not good for multiple use on a single target
* Long animation delay between use
* Very low damage at close range
* Locked while you are charging to area clicked and while attack animation plays

Change:
My proposed change would have Shield Charge damage and knock back enemies while charging and have a mana drain similar to Arctic Armor. While you hold the activation key down you use mana and the skill is actively damaging and knocking back enemies

AOE, Melee, Movement

Damage should scale off the shield properties, with reflect mod damage multiplied by a percentage applied with the skill.

It´s all about the animation lock that makes this skill useless.
What can never be lent or earned?

This is a great idea. I think it would have an included chance to get interrupted as well so the skill isn't too good.
It needs to work on doors and breakables, for one.

I don't think it would even matter. Desynch will always be a major problem with this skill, unfortunately.

even so, this change is a improvement to the current version.
Shield Charge stops on terrain, it will still play animation and you will be locked for the duration.

Attacking something within a inch of yourself is pointless in the current form, the animation and lockout duration makes a normal attack far superior.

TBH its not good for anything other than mobility, and even then it is inferior, compared to leap slam.


To clarify on the Arctic armor reference, its not a toggle skill, but a active, where you need to hold down the activation key. I referenced AA for the mana drain.

Shield Charge either should have had an small AoE by default or be great at single target, but also a better attack range. It should have a faster recovery on hitting an enemy at the end. If this is not feasible, the skill itself should have a mini cooldown so it can have a better recovery but not be spammed for travelling through an area.

If it was an AoE, it makes sense as a single use engage a pack skill. It should have much better knockback and better recovery on hit.

If it was single target, if it bumps past enemies, they should be also be 100% stunned but take no damage, better recovery on hit, slight improvement to knockback (knocking back too far with better recovery could be annoying depending on what you are doing).
I agree, it just needs buffs, I dont know why they nerfed it.
