Not wrong :P I'm just stating that speedclearing low maps is rewarding(can even put in a rarity gem if overkilling). Nothing wrong with prioritizing leveling.

i really think it makes no difference.

you can either get extremely lucky, and drop way more than you would ever need to make multiple enjoyable/interesting characters (like you)

or you can have shit drops, like me, and have virtually nothing to show for getting to a pretty high level.

great system we have here. very rewarding. i feel like my skill playing the game has a large impact on my ability to enjoy a diverse set of interesting builds.

You can overcome that luck though. Using the two chaos/2 regal recipe as well as getting tons of alterations is how I made most of my currency before my big drops.

I used to do a 1 chaos shop for items.. if you're finding items with 10 chaos-1 exa value that's still quite awesome.

You don't need much to do most builds. Only a handful of uniques are out of reach.

my main concerns are what i have, and what builds i can afford to spec into, etc.

if my options are limited or basically zero, that's not very fun. if somebody else is having fun with all their good drops, able to afford lots of fun new builds, good on them. it doesn't hurt me. not directly, anyways.
