My Staff Templar Build

Hey there, I'm brand new to not only this game, but ARPGs in general. Obviously I'm hooked for life but now I find myself trying to grasp at the subtle aspects of character building in PoE. I've been playing as a Templar for a while and put together my first custom build (following other builds was lame for me, it's unoriginal) and I'm looking for input on any way I can improve it, constructive criticism only please! this build is set to around level 60-70.

Glad to see you joining the community...Looks like you did some research, but missed a couple of points about the game mechanics:

Dexterity is used to boost your ability to actually hit enemies. Thus, when you use Resolute Technique (100% chance to hit enemies) there is no reason to have any dexterity or Accuracy Rating. I see a handful of skills that you grabbed that are useless simply because you have RT. My recommendation would be to stick with RT and go spend those other skillpoints somewhere else.

Only other thing that caught my eye was the Zealot's Oath. I'd like to know how that works out - never used it myself.

Good luck!
Thanks for your input! the reason I added in the accuracy buffs was originally for the 20+ dexterity boost needed to continue levelling Hatred and other dexterity related gems to buff my ice attacks. but I do see the unnecessary accuracy nodes and unfortunately a few of my staff damage nodes are weakened to half it's power giving the rest to accuracy. I tweaked it a bit to remove the accuracy mode in exchange for the +30 dexterity node up top, and switched around some accuracy buffs for more staff damage.

You're going for a more elemental damage focused one, I see. But that doesn't mean you need to ignore the Staff tree areas, the only ones that give accuracy are usually off the path. I'm going for a more melee-focused one, and so far my build would be somthing like this.

The multiple trees for the staves give them a nice +15% block chance or so, along with having a decent amount of life and armor.

I just wanted to point something out: You have Resolute Technique picked up, yet grabbed Hammer Blows as well...

Otherwise, the build looks interesting. Let us know how it works. :)
Aha, did not notice the hammer blows crit thank you for pointing that out, fixed that and removed the upper dexterity node as well in exchange for some extra life & mana, any leveling beyond this point is likely to be distributed into the staff damage nodes below the initial life ones.

This Templar build is turning into a kind of cookie cutter elemental tank. I like :)
