Why's fire considered the "worst" element?

When the mob burns, it has a chance to flee to. It's kinda luckluster and very often annoying. I'm running double firestorm totem + fire traps- when I was surrounded by 30+ monkeys in the forest, half of them were running for their lives burning. Very funny mechanic. But when you want to focus fire this bitches, it's annoying as hell, because they keep moving constantly.

overall the burning damage is lackluster as a DoT because DoTs dont stack.

Doh I forgot another thing. With the cold to fire gem all cold spells are pretty much fire spells. You can "double dip" into damage boosters that way too. With 50% cold and 50% fire damage and max qual 75% cold to fire gem an ice spell with 100 damage would do:
100 base*.25(c2f)*(1+.5(cbonus)+.14qual)+100*.75(c2f)*(1+.5(cbonus)+.5(fbonus)+.28qual)
212 damage, 171 of which being fire.
Were that a fire spell with the 50% fire bonus alone thatd be 150 damage!'

So the best single target fire spell is probably ice spear.
