Programmable buttons on a mouse
So, I am buying a new gaming mouse (Logitech g500s), for gaming and general computer use, so I was wondering if Poe supports binding of skills to various extra buttons these expensive mice offer.
A while ago I played teleport firestorm witch with many support skills, and it wasn't quite as enjoyable because I needed to teleport in a milisecond, and since it was programmed to scroll click, I often died because I couldn't escape the action in time. " PoE doesn't need to support the extra keys, any good multi button mouse will let you set the extra buttons to any key stroke/function you want. |

to answer your ?, as long as the mouse button only performs 1 action it can be programmed to use it. If you try and put 2+ actions to the mouse button you can be banned if they find out.

And even if you don't have decent mouse you can bind any keystroke sequence or simultaneous presses to any mouse at all via a nice free little piece of software called X-mouse.

So, g500s features two 'dedicated' dpi buttons on front on the mouse - ironically, two which I would rather use for anything else.
Their software allows only this dpi function to be assigned to them. Can Poe override this 'dedicated' function and allow other functions? Last edited by Tank_The_Shredder_Evans#0131 on Apr 7, 2014, 9:06:07 AM

No, if the software doesn't let you remap the dpi buttons, then PoE won't recognize them, either.

" Poe can't but you can always try with that software I recommended, it just sees all buttons on the mouse as button1, buton2, ... ,buttonN. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" So that software is capable of overriding it? Where is this information about dpi setting actually stored? In the mouse, as a part of onboard memory, in firmware, or in windows? If it is in the mouse, are there any potential undesireable consequances of that software's meddling with it? I don't know much about mice, so I hope someone can school me on the topic. |

" If the mouse stores any settings they are stored on the mouse and got nothing to do with drivers or any software, if you plug the mouse in another computer it will have the same settings it had before. That software just intercepts clicks and there can be no undesirable consequences as it's all happening on application level, it's not even meddling with the driver, let alone your mouse memory, very benign (just don't download it from CNET because that's the first link google will offer, go directly to its homepage). However, native logitech software has been known not to cooperate with others occasionally so you'll have to try something else if it makes any fuss, or just uninstall it once you set your mouse up and install x-mouse. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" Can someone confirm if this is a true statement? For example, if I have a macro to a key which sends skill 1 and then skill 2. Is that not permitted? What is the reasoning behind this since that person is bound to the same number of skills? |
