Laptop Recommended Specs
Hi all,
My laptop is too slow for playing PoE. I have been playing on my desktop which is quite old but with more memory and an upgraded graphics card, but that is slow in multi-player or when a lot is happening on screen. I have 76Mb fibre broadband (around 40Mb in practice) so I don't think that's a problem. Would something like this do it? http://www.ebuyer.com/632111-pc-specialist-cosmos-ii-x580-gaming-laptop-pcs-l657742 I'm looking at spending around £700-800 on a gaming laptop, but don't want to find it still unacceptably slow when multiplaying. Thanks, Kalten~!!! |

There's really no such thing as a "gaming laptop". Some of them say "gaming" on the box, but that doesn't mean it is good for gaming.
Laptops in general aren't meant for gaming because of their size and heat dissipation problems. If you're serious about gaming, you should really get a new gaming desktop. Those are easier to upgrade, cheaper to upgrade, and are actually made for gaming and the sizes are perfect for heat dissipation so you don't ruin your hardware. You can get a "decent" gaming PC for the price you're looking to spend. I'd seriously stay away from laptops for gaming though. They're great for mobility and productivity, but horrible for games (long-term). While you MIGHT be able to find a laptop with decent enough hardware to make it semi-viable for gaming, you still have the problem of overheating and non-upgrade. |

I recommend a Clevo based system. The best prices I've seen are from wwww.sagernotebook.com. I've had 3 of these and couldn't be happier. My current Clevo is 3+ years old and I can still play anything that's out with pretty good settings, if not maxed. These are "Desktop" replacements. However, upgrades are hard to do. So if you want something that lasts you might want to get the highest price you can afford.

Hi, I'm also looking at getting a laptop (for weekends away from home) and the PC Specialist was one of my choices too, did you ever actually get one, and if so is it any good?
