Eye of Chayula vs. Unwavering Stance

I'm curious what people think is better, assuming the following:

a) Life-based build, so the -20% life matters.
b) Can cap resists etc without the amulet slot.
c) If using Eye of Chayula, would run blind on an AoE attack.

It's reduced life, not less so taking 3 life nodes should counter it.
It comes down to your preference and how fast you attack for blind to be effective, since blind will boost your survival a lot if constantly applied.

I realize it's reduced life, but together with the 70-79 flat life you *could* get on the amulet it's actually pretty big. Even after using the points for US as life, it would still be -300 life for me.

You could always just opt for higher life and not go chayula seeing as stun duration is calculated based on life.

A really high life build will almost never get stunned anyway.

I don't think the ones you listed are essential in deciding whether to US or EoC.

1. Do you plan getting Evasion, Armor, or IR?
Evasion - No US.
Armor or IR - Yes US.

2. Is your path near?
If you spend 15 points or more just to get US, no good.
If it's only 5 point of less investment (and you can also use some of the nodes around it), Yes.
Ultimately, it comes down to, if using that EoC worth the points not going to US, or if using that rare amulet provides more benefit than the points invested in going US.

3. Are you focusing on critical or using RT?
Amulet provides the only source of critical affix on rare besides weapon, and it's huge. If you build around critical, you might re-consider the benefit of EoC vs US.


Note: there are also other ways to avoid stun, it's not only US or EoC.

I agree, and at the moment I'm flying with neither and most of the time it doesn't matter, but in certain situations (Vulnerability maps, hard hitting bosses) but it can still be a factor.

2. Costs 2 points to get US. However if I go this route it would actually net me 2 passive points - I would use Faster Projectiles for my ST setup and spec out of Ballistic Mastery / Heart of Oak.

But it seems like US is the way to go for you, since it seems like you're not having a substantial loss when going US.


People only use Eye of Chayula because going US cost too much, mostly CI users, since it's like on the other side of the skill tree.


And plus, if you go US, you can get life on your amulet, and 5 other mods.

OK, thank for the opinion. The other reason to use Eye of Chayula is to be able to use Blind while still not getting stunned, though, which is more of what I'm debating.

What AOE attack do you use? I love my Cyclone Duelist. Only gets stunned (briefly) if he's out of sync.

Made a life/Eva-based Reave Shadow recently and while he does insane damage, with 2.5k hp and no stun immunity he's getting owned in maps. Not sure what to do about that one.
