why is Attack Speed important for Crit ?
|
I dont see why Attack Speed is important for Crit builds.
If i use a 1.2 ATS or a 1.5 ATS weapon, the damage i do is the same, crits happen less often, but the damage scales the same, given the weapons have the same DPS, no ? |

Many critical builds utilize the Cast on Critical Strike gem, which depends more on getting a higher amount of critical hits faster rather than inflicting damage with the critical hits themselves and relying more on the activated spells triggered by the critical hit.
That's the only example I know of, at least. |

its not just crit builds. its pretty simple - because in this game DMG on other gear besides the weapon exists high attack speed always benefits more from those damage adds (also dmg auras) than a slower weapon. basically they made it worse than in diablo 2 where at least some skills existed which were ok with slower weapons.
higher AS also lets u leech more consistently |
|
" Higher attack speed has always been better. Slow weapons are more vulnerable to freeze and stun, making that one attack deal no damage and leave you vulnerable. Whereas, a faster attack only misses one out of many attacks, and isn't as hurt by stun and freeze. Nobody made anything worse. |
|
" yeye im not that precise with my words sorry. so ill try to make it clear for you: i also said that fastest attack speed is best in this game. dont know why u quote me because just the last sentence "nobody made anything worse" relates to my post. the thing i think is made "worse" in POE against diablo 2 is that there is even more added damage from auras/items than there is in diablo 2(for example 10-20phys dmg on amulet doesnt exist in this form which gets multiplied by the whole tree/rest of the gear), and therefore max attackspeed weapons are just the most effective (so effective that most slow weapons are vendor material which takes us on a longer grind for gear) |
|
" " You did say that someone did make it worse. |

Crit builds in most games work by getting crits (mind-blowing, isn't it?). The thing is, most games have it set up so that you can't get a 100% chance to crit. The more attacks you make, the more chances you have to crit. A weapon with faster attack speed will therefore tend to crit more often than a slower weapon with the same crit chance, because it's higher attack speed is giving it more chances to crit.

im confused.
either natharias is a big troll, or my english is terrible, or ur english is terrible. i explained what i think is "worse" in POE against d2 in that text. not a long way till i manage to find ignore function i hope |
|
" I'm not a troll. Your English is difficult to understand, most likely. You should read the posts again and realize that I bolded and underlined what you stated before. |

alright i believe u ;P
so with "always" u meant that attackspeed in diablo2 was of the same importance like POE? sure its going close but in POE 2.00 base AS and 2.15 base AS make a huge difference already, and with that "worse" i just meant that the effect of high attack speed is stronger in POE. and i personally dislike that slow AS weapons are mostly vendor/unusable. issues in the game engine which make it harder to target monsters with single target melee attacks even led the developers to integrating gems like melee splash/reave/spectral throw imo. but thats speculative and OT (getting the thought by thinking about a shield charge build) |
