I agree on everything but the good story line (it's horrid) and superior graphics (it's WoW from an aerial perspective).
By good story line I mean d1-d2 to build off of, and we are seeing the same characters come back. I do agree the story line for d3 is less than what I wanted but its still tyrael, and tyrael is way cooler than anything we get in poe

Meh, Tyrael was awesome because he was an otherworldly badass with a great design. I really wasn't impressed by the Paladin Tyrael, and his pitiful despair. But, it was par for the rest of the story.

I may take a break from PoE to play Super Mario Bros on nintendo, hell i might even be bold enough to bust out the Atari 2600 for some real riveting gameplay.

Pitfall, the best game I ever played. I'd not have the patience for it, but back then, early 80s, nothing could discourage me! Damn scorpions.
I've actually been playing 3DS games lately (have a rather large library of DS games that I never touched), and the fun is more "pure" than what I get from PC games. Kind of tempted to grab a Vita, but there are still barely any games I find appealing. (Actually, now I wonder if the revised Vita model that came out in Japan has now been released in Europe too. Must check...)

PoE Fanboy: D3 leaves you with no choices and is too ez!
How about an actual fully neutral opinion:
D3 RoS has excellent combat and a good story line. Its fun and with the paragon levels you have some more choices. You can really use any skill and its fun. However, there is no trading and its pretty much the SFL everyone wants, and is far more fluid and graphically superior since, ya know, blizzard is 100 times bigger than GGG and has the funds to do so. Its pretty much gauntlet legends on steroids.
PoE, has the item factor of d2, where when you find your shako/jah rune or your shavs/kaoms you know you found it and you freak out. Has a far larger customization system, and people are going to say yeah well everyone is cookie cutter, and I think thats far from true. PoE, from a difficulty standpoint, is way harder. D3 gives you artificual difficulty in terms of moving a bar to scale enemies, which I guess is comparable to rolling a map with no mods. But no mod palace dom will kill your family still and ezmode malth you can afk and kill with thorns.
In the end it really just comes down to what you are looking for. Personally I play both depending on which friends are on which game. People need to stop comparing everything and freaking out on the d3/poe or the dota/lol level, each game is very different. Just because they fit the same mold (arpg/moba), they are completely different games and really just come to preference.

Pitfall = Good
Super Pitfall = Hatey Hate it
People tell me i should just use emulators for old games, but the nostalgia factor isn't complete without the console, and whipping the controller across the room out of frustration while playing the first ninja gaiden, ah good times.
To add some relevance to my post in this thread, I'll play both PoE and D3, I'll play the one when i feel like it, and the other when i feel like it, and i won't play either when i feel like it.

Steam charts. And I don't care if you don't use steam, the majority of players are new players post release so they do use steam, and if 2/3 have dropped from steam alone then I hate to see what the numbers are for non steam users.
or maybe steam is multi-game platform meaning players that use steam play alot of different games, so you cant compare the whole playerbase of a game (that is meant to be played for along time) on a platform which main advantage is thousands of different games to play and try
what is true for steam isnt necessarily true for PoE in whole.. point is you are guessing (not saying it isnt true, i dont know either) except for the steam chart thing

I can't speak to anyone else, but I can give my opinion.
I haven't touched Diablo 3 and don't plan to, but I have gotten ridiculously tired of grinding low level areas hunting for map fragments to try and change up the end game maps which has gotten stale as well.
I'd love to see the map fragments be more common across the board and possibly have different properties. Maybe each needs a specific property to spawn the Queen, while the others could be used to run the map with a random end boss from other maps without the Queen's rewards. Could easily have a locked door that only opens if all 4 map fragments had a 'queen's key' for instance.
Something to let those of us who aren't filthy rich have a chance to play the new content...

You're right, you can't say steam is representative of the whole playerbase. But you can extrapolate from this post (http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733852/page/1) and the steam charts, that around 50% of the playerbase uses steam. I'm pretty sure the 70k number corresponds with the 35k that were from steam.
