End game marauder survival\dps question
My question is as folows:
-Can end game marauder man the fuck up and go raging in the middle of a mob swarm swining his 2hander without getting instakilled??? From what I've seen all them rangers and mages runing around doing "pew pew, pew pew pew" with em arraows and EK etc, and just kiting mobs. It's all fun(no, not realy for me) BUT!!! can the end game marauder with a 2h weapon and NO ground slam... say he has Cleave as his aoe....man the fuck up and take the fight to the enemy "swing em choppaz!!! style" without dying in 2 seconds??? I'm talking about 6 man party maps. IGN: Seze

In most action RPGs a damage based character with no shield is going to have a hard time going head on in later difficulties of a game. That might change once the loot economy starts bring about more and more god-like items and meta-builds with perfect points in the passive tree - but for the time being its probably unheard of.

Currently only 57 in A2 of Merciless.

Yeah, got same problem with kiting...Recently played WW Barb in D3, bigger bands, better for me...

This is how I played the game my first time through, had almost no prob till end of act 3 cruel, now in act 1 merc I get steam rolled by anything :/ I even have like 7% life per second

This is just sad. I mean marauder is like 7 feet tall at least, swings an axe that could split stone wall in two with ease, wearing plate armour thick as a modern tanks armour and yet he gets raped... just sad. I saw krips stream... they have marauders in a group... all they do is taunt... place a totem and run the fuck away... while the "pew pew pew" process begins.

Even if you play with a shield, melee classes are paper in high difficulty...
They need buff armor or nodes with armor. If you have 4000 of armor with iron grip and a lot of good gear, in merciless you have like a 40 o 50% de damage reduction = paper. I mean... what are de real class tank in the game? the totems???... My sword, my soul, my hamster... all of these I pledge to... to Aerie, my witch... HEAR THAT, EVIL?! MINSC HAS A NEW WITCH!! I see a lot of builds in marauder part of the forum... but proly none of those are actual act 3 highest difficulty tested since everyone is playing ranger\witch\wand templar etc... nobody is man enough to go full melee and see if it's viable end game... and by full melee I mean not using GS or LS cause that is also ranged 8)

I do not know about real endgame but my lvl 72 marauder can jump into 90% of lvl 67 map monster packs and sweep away happily. You can jump into any white pack and most blue packs but at some you cannot.
I have 3.5k health, 75% damage reduction and maxed resistances (with 7 endurance charges up). Running clarity and grace on life and determination and hatred on mana. Hope that somewhat answers your question. |
