Got insta-killed by Act 2 boss on normal... ten times...
I see Normal difficulty on softcore as the consequence free learning zone: before you leave it with any character you will learn where you went wrong either in terms of player skills or build. You are really not that far into the game at the end of Act 2 Normal. I think this is working as intended.

"You are missing the point here. I did kill the boss, so that's not the problem. The problem is how was I supposed to know I need more life, more resistance and all that when I've been one-shotting everything up until that boss? And as I said, even the other bosses went down quickly. It doesn't make sense. I don't think you should be able to walk around feeling invincible for two whole acts, then get one-shot by a boss without a warning. "And that's how you die properly, sailor boy."

Multiple people answered your question. The reason you're getting instakilled is because you have no defense. This also answers why you're not having any problems one shotting enemies.
"You're missing the point here". -no, I think you are. Glass cannon is not viable in this game, unless you are an expert. |

" Clearly, you know nothing about Rangers. Anything is "squishy" if you build it like sponge. |

I didn't seem to have that problem , I think its your built and gears.
Can get pretty sick gears at low level by using orbs to pay for them ! |

guess everyone has to go through some vaal destruction ;)
first of all, you need lightning resistance, because if you get hit you get shockstacked and take a ton of damage from all sources. secondly, you need more live or armor for the rocks. the reason you didn't have a problem with merveille is because you obviously had good cold resistance. Without cold resistance you would have been destroyed by merveille as well. Act 3 is also full of quick moving mobs who force you into melee range, and vaal is a perfect gearcheck for that. Wait till you see vaal merciless. I got 2 shot by rocks with 2,3k life, (no armor). In the closed Beta i could easy take the rocks with that amount of life. Well that has obviously changed and i had to adapt. I made it through but soon after that i got cought in a beartrap while i was kiting like 20 mobs. Needless to say that i got eaten alive by them. that's when i took some armor nodes, and all the problems where gone ;D I am sure there are other solutions as well. Vaal really prepares you for act 3, really. In normal you might not feel it but in cruel and above you will. |

Learning and not having everythind spoon fed to you is part of what makes this game different (and more fun) than a game like Diablo 3 in many peoples opinions. Learn from your mistake and focus on more defensive passives and gear.

" i understand where your coming from. It might certainly a sudden disappointment. This is certainly something the devs might want to note. But you can think of it from other perspectives too, this might just be the unpredictable nature of this game, and like other's have said, you have just started, so take this as a learning experience Shall we rest us here/ And, by relating tales of other's griefs / See if 'twill teach us to forget our own? - William Shakespeare |
