TLDR; Huge variety of choice =/= meaningful amount of choice

Nobody addresses the thread, instead it's a group insult on him for having a new account. This forum is on a level with the LoL forums, maybe worse in some aspects..

Well, what some people don't realize is that the variety of choice doesn't matter.

They could make a tree with 10 000 distinct passive skills. People would still find optimized, cookie-cutter builds that work better than most others. If you want to have a strong, solid build, variety will always be limited.

In any RPG / MMO I've played, there always are optimized builds and strategies which are just a fraction of all available choices.

In any game at all, there will always be optimal strategy.

If all choices were equal, they would be meaningless.
