Old man`s APM too high for "action" RPG
" Not to be off topic but I agree here. 400 APM in SC2 is completely unnecessary. Many professional players sit around 150-200 APM. Maybe if you were a Koren pro playing Brood War, you may need something around 400. Otherwise you are exaggerating (I've done it too :p) or you are spamming hardcore throughout the game. I realize that there are benefits to spamming. But that is just way too much. ARPGs are usually more about being monster slots and casual friendly rather than a highly skill-based PvP system. They are usually fun PvE games with PvP added rather than e-sports. Not saying that GGG can't change that. Just warning you that an e-sport ARPG is not common. Mostly Path of Exile:

PVP here can reach APM similar to LOL or even higher ,since we got no cooldowns on skills here, just cast times.
We still lack lot of spells that might give rapid fighting effect and some skill based action. But we will see ,its just aRPG not real fast peaced game. Last edited by herflik#4390 on Sep 20, 2011, 11:47:07 AM

I was somewhat annoyed by the queueing system as well. I'm used to my character freezing in his tracks when I press shift or immediatelly cancelling whatever he was doing when I give a different command. Kind of uncomfortable at the start but I got used to it after a few hours.
You can kind of do a stutter micro or stand still until everything is dead- those seem like the best options at the moment. Last edited by Blacknsilver#2348 on Sep 20, 2011, 11:50:21 AM

Ya I click a lot also, this is frustrating.
The purpose of argument should not be victory, but progress.

" I loled hard. During class. Got my cellphone back after class :) Not to take the discussion into a wrong direction, but even if you play SC2 or LoL at 100apm, you will peak at several hundred during action bursts. I dont mind skill queueing much, its the curses that I feel ar so sluggish. If I have to "stop playing" to willfully hold down my q curse, it just does not feel right. I do understand the game mechanics though. |
