Error Messages, Can't Launch
I'm on Ubuntu Linux. I solved the problem. What I did was download the directx redistributable from MS:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 In PlayOnLinux I used the "run a .exe file in this virtual drive" option and installed the redistributable (DXSETUP.exe). Game runs fine. |

This is the process I used to get it working on Gentoo using wine 1.6
Starting from a CLEAN wine prefix: 1. Use winetricks to install dx3d9_42, usp10, and vcrun2010 2. Run the dxsetup.exe that is included in the Path Of Exile redist folder. 3. Run the game! Also of note, when installing vcrun2010 it seems to be shitting out on msxml3, causing you to manually download the msi file, here is the relevant error, which is indeed worked around by doing what it says. ------------------------------------------------------ Please download msxml3.msi from http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-XML-Parser-MSXML-3-0-Service-Pack-7-SP7/3000-7241_4-10731613.html, place it in /home/USERNAME/.cache/winetricks/msxml3, then re-run this script. ------------------------------------------------------ Replace USERNAME with your username. " lol, mac and non windows OS are not supported by GGG, if ti's a mac problem you would be better to take it to the unofficial mac port thread and post there Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" Doesn't that produce a font issue for you? (look around at the "a" character and see if there are any extra artifacts). I can't get those to go away no matter what I do (and still be able to run PoE). Seems to be related to the d3dx9_42.dll. You also don't have to winetricks the d3dx9_42 if you're just running the directx setup that comes with Path of Exile as I believe it installs it all anyway. |

I can start and play the game in a small window, but if I try to make the window bigger or click fullscreen it gives me the "Failed resetting Direct3D device objects" box and doesn't let me click "OK"
Just wondering if anyone knows how I can fix this? I have AMD fx-4100 processor, geforce gtx 550ti video card, 8GB RAM running Ubuntu 13.04 and Wine 1.6 Last edited by haoletoke719#2958 on Oct 23, 2013, 12:02:11 AM
