Totem + Minion + Aura

Question,

If a totem summons a minion does the totem damage modifier also affect the damage bonus auras grant that minion?

Say we have a skeleton, summoned by a totem, affected by an aura always giving 100 fire damage. How much extra fire damage do the hits get?

And what if we add in totem damage passives and minion damage passives, do those increase the damage done of the aura?

Damage penalty on totem is applied to minion as a passive bonus on summon. '30% less damage' affects all damage the minion does, and it's a multiplier. Same goes for attack speed bonus, so don't summon your minions with a totem unless they are raging spirits or skeletons.

Minion damage passives and gem affect *all* damage the minion does, no matter the source, even minion instability damage is affected. However, totem damage nodes don't affect them, totem damage nodes affect damage of the spell it casts, and the action of summoning a minion does no damage. Also, totem damage nodes work like 'increases your damage when channeling spells through a totem', and no bonus that affects your stats will ever affect a minion.

I don't see why this would be the case. Any skill that is supported by Spell Totem or Ranged Attack Totem gains the 'Totem' keyword, so totem bonuses apply. (Support skill keywords come in two kinds: those that restrict what kind of skill can be used, such as 'Melee', and those which are applied to the supported skill. 'Totem' is clearly the second kind of keyword.) If it doesn't work like this, then GGG has done something that goes against their usual logic for skills.

Minions summoned through a totem do not deal "totem damage". As raics said, the totem damage would only apply to the summoning of the minion, which doesn't deal damage.

It works the same way with mines/traps. Getting mine or trap passives/gear affixes will not apply to the damage of minions summoned through mines or traps. The support gem damage multipliers do apply, since they are generic damage modifiers directly linked to the skill.

Exactly, minions probably do get the 'totem' tag on their damage, however, as I already said, totem damage passives apply to you, not to minions. We aren't 100% sure about the tag, and it's irrelevant in any case, if we get a shield one day that says 'xx increased totem/trap/mine damage' and use it with aegis it will be important, until then - no.
