Best defense for witch?

..or: Is energy shield fun to play with self-found gear? Anybody can share his expierences?

I started a lightning-witch in the new league (currently level 54) and was wondering what's the best way to build up my defense.
This is my skill tree so far:

and I'm planning to use all skill points from now on for defensive reasons.

Originally I was thinking to try a life+ES hybrid and get a couple of life nodes and ES nodes at the same time, than I was thinking about respecing out of the life+mana nodes and going fully ES+CI+Ghost Reaver and than I got completely lost in between since I have no experience with ES so far. Any suggestions are welcome!

Its gonna be hard to live specially in merc. plus your pathing is weird in your build could of been more planned out/ Even if you go CI you generally get life nodes that are easy to respec out of once you have atleast 4-4.5k+ es before the ci cluster.
