what to do with Rime Gaze?

had it in my stash for quite some time.
looks cool enough (pun intended) to make a build with.

all ideas appreciated.

Some people use it for coldsnap + trap to make it a 5 link. Pretty much you make a typical trapper and use that as well as eldritch battery(for huge mana + arctic armor).

Could of course use this with other area skills such as fireball/flameblast/firetrap. The cold damage is insignificant enough that you shouldn't limit yourself to cold skills.

Not worth using in an ES build due to the penalty. It's only good for a cheap 5 link.

I plan on using it as a cheap five-link for my flameblast until I get a real five-link.

wait, Flameblast? but you're wasting the cold damage mod which makes it "cool"...
why not take the total package, and go for some AoE Freeze like Kasub suggested?

that's what I'm thinking, but I want more "cool self-cast" than "cool traps".
maybe Ice Nova. maybe Arctic Breath if my PC can handle it.

There isn't any amazing cold area skills. You need to link coldsnap to traps to bypass the cooldown. You also need to use other skills since you can't rely just on one trap(you run out often).

The only real build it helps a lot is trap builds. Any other AoE builds don't use several DPS skills so they can 5 link their mainskill in their chest. With a trap build you can put coldsnap in the helm, firetrap in your chest and lightning trap elsewhere. If you have no access to 5 links then it's ok for any other strong AoE skill(flameblast and such).

If you were a summoner running zombies on your chest, you could put specters in it and raise evangelists.

Might the new Vaal Cold Snap be worth a shot? :)

10% cold damage ain't much. Level 15 conc effect to act as a 5-link is. Don't limit yourself to crappy cold skills! It's good for any AOE skill user.

I've used it on my Reave as a 5L.
