Can you scour a corrupted item

If you used a Vaal Orb on an item, and corrupted it, I know this means that it can no longer be modified, but can it be scoured clean using an orb of scouring??
I only ask because I used an orb on a belt, and it did NOTHING to it, and I thought that was kind of stupid since the orbs are VERY hard to come by, and now I cannot try again because it is corrupted.... | |
