Minions snapshotting and remote mines

question is simple: it whispers somewhere deep in my head that there has been some changes to these concepts, that they no longer work. How much true is that? Not sure and I'm not in the mood to list through patch notes from last half a year.
Any answers highly anticipated and thanks in advance :)
