Standard league - Currency exchange rates
|
I've used the PoExchange rates for Standard as a guideline, but I've never really put its accuracy to the test (nor have I consummated a trade via the site).
Where might Whetstones and Armorer Scraps fit into all this? Anybody trade these on Standard and for what currency and at what rates? |

The best rate I've seen recently is 2 stacks for 1 chaos, for both.
Ranger builds list: /917964 When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch? If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch. Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart... Last edited by Panini_aux_olives#1967 on May 22, 2014, 5:16:22 PM

Thank you for keeping a pretty civil thread.
I know everyone loves to trade according to chaos, but wouldn't it make more sense if the rates were based on wisdom scrolls? That is how I ended up with my rates in beta. Also, everything that can be obtained through a vendor should have a fixed amount. Leaving mirror, exalt, eternal having a fluctuating rate. (just my opinion) The actual rates looked pretty accurate to me, nothing stood out at first glance. I will get some more information for the rates you have not posted :). ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Regrets are fixed based on scours. You can trade 2 scours for 1 regret at vendor. Therefore, regrets are 1:1 chaos. regals 16 : 1 ex? regals 1 : 1.5 chaos? <3 Free Tibet <3 Last edited by Opinionated#4840 on May 22, 2014, 9:42:10 PM

" 1- Why would it be better to use wisdom scrolls instead of chaos? No one needs wisdom scrolls. 2- You can buy currency from vendors but that's usually expensive you can almost always get a better rate trading with people. Explain better what you mean with fixed amounts. 3- Good point about regrets. If 2 scours are 1 regret at vendor. Regret has to be 1:1 to chaos. But it's strange i can usually sell regrets 1:1,5-2 for chaos. 4- Another strange thing is that i can always buy alchs 3 for 1 chaos. But 1 alch + 1 scour is the same as a chaos. Some things just don't make a whole lot of sense. I would like to base the currency exchange rates on what the usual rates are when trading with people. Not only. But as often as possible. Your example with regrets is good. Gonna have to update this soon. I think exalts are now about 1:27-28 to chaos. Need more feedback to update it. 1. The goal of exchange rates is to exchange at a consistent rate. It is my opinion, that if you start from the lowest or highest currency, it is simply easier. I actually prefer going from the highest currency (because the ratios are easier on my brain) but since the highest currencies are drop only, it makes it hard to narrow down a price to compare all the other currencies to. It has been my experience that wisdom scrolls are very stable in price.
2. Take fuse and alterations for example. Vendors sell 1 fuse for 8 alterations. If you deviate from this ratio, then someone is getting an advantage. See the last paragraph below. 3. and 4. A surprising amount of people don't know you can exchange most orbs through the vendor. The alch + scour debate has been going on forever. Scours are overpriced at the vendor and through recipes. Alchs are used for the chaos recipe to get free rare jewelry. Another situation is chaos : alteration in new leagues is pretty much 1:20. Flippers will buy those 20 alts and then turn them into fuse. Then sell the fuse 2:1 chaos. Rinse and repeat infinitely. Unfortunately, Joe Casual Gamer sees that they are making 4 alteration profit. They say "it is only 4 alterations big deal". They fail to realize when you trade thousands of alts a day, those 4 alterations add up to exalts. It only takes 4 trades at 20:1 to make a chaos profit. <3 Free Tibet <3
