Corrupted Areas
" YOu can get the fragmets that open the queen fight in those aeras, or you get vaal skill gems and they should always contain an unique boss, which meens an additionla boss drop - so you kinda get more loot out of it, but the bosses can be hard ;) Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D
And even prouder 4th Templar in the Nov 10 Four-hour Party Hardcore Race :P Current OB success: top 20 Ranger in 105 Minute Turbo Solo (S4E9) |

Just FYI, these corrupt entrances don't spawn -only- at the edges of an area. We just found one in a Sarcophagus in the Crypt area, doing the Through Sacred Ground quest. We saw the red/orange rectangle on the map, and went up to it, and there was a floating heart above the sarcophagus with no other indicators. Clicked it to open the sarcophagus and bam, corrupt area entrance.

yesterday I played for almost 5 hours unstoppable trying to farm corrupted areas.
waypoint, run, flask, flask, not killing anything, portal, town, new instance, run, flask, flask... have found only 2 corrupted areas. wtf? and one of then had Blood Magic mod, but my shadow uses CI, which means no skill for me. nice huh? IGN: ShadowBeholder

I had a good amount of luck finding them in act 2 cruel den. About 2 an hour.

Im under the impression chances are far better to find a corrupted area if you run with a team.
