Twitch chat

Every time i log into twitch in the chat it repeatedly says connecting to twitch chat then failed to twitch chat, i have tried relogging twitch and POE and even steam but i keep getting this. http://imgur.com/K8HXkLn <-- like that but it goes on for the whole time on logged in.

Do you have some kind of security software or firewall?

This happened to me recently, and I've seen a few people who seem to have had the same problem. In my case, taking down my network interface and bringing it back up after exiting the client "fixed" the issue -- it seemed to persist if the client was restarted without pulling a new IP, this could just be coincidence though, it hasn't happened often enough to tell (and I haven't thought to break out the diagnostic tools while it's happening).

I checked the client log, there were lines containing "TTV_EC_API_REQUEST_FAILED" during the times when twitch chat was failing to connect. According to twitch's sdk:

Why am I getting TTV_EC_API_REQUEST_FAILED when calling TTV_RequestAuthToken or TTV_Login?

When using the Password Credentials Grant Flow, you will receive TTV_EC_API_REQUEST_FAILED as an error if you attempt to use a client id you create without first sending it to Twitch for white-listing. Email it to your Twitch contact (or brooke@twitch.tv) to have it approved. Otherwise, sometimes this error can occur randomly because of a communication problem with the Twitch servers. Just try again in these cases.

If there's any data I can provide/capture that would be useful for diagnosis/debugging, let me know and I'll grab it assuming this happens again.

Sorry, I wrongly assumed I should post under the same issue. I'll make another thread if it happens again.

That said, this isn't an issue with streaming, it's with the integrated chat, is intermittent, started occurring recently, and has been affecting more people than just myself (people asking about it on reddit, happened on Hege's stream today). I haven't run XP in a long time (currently 64bit win7).
