Stash Tabs are Remove Only - Why?

Some of my stash tabs are marked "Remove Only" why is that?

They're stash tabs that transferred over when a temporary leagues ended. Most likely you had some stuff stashed in Domination or Nemesis, but it could be from any race too. When you remove all the items from the tab and relog, the tab disappears.

All stash tabs you have paid for should be still there.

Remove only tabs are tabs merged from the past league(s). Those stash tabs are an extra you haven´t paid for but you can keep your items there for FREE (you can´t put in anything there though).

What? You don't lose the tabs you paid for.

Here's what happens when you purchase a stash tab: you get a new stash tab both in standard (aka regular, the default game), and in whichever league may be running at the time (such as Abyss, recently).

So, if you had, say, 10 tabs before, after you buy a tab you will have 11 in both standard and in the league. When the league ends, the temporary league characters/stash tabs are moved to standard. You still have the same number of tabs in standard. Any tabs from the league that had items inside become extra "remove-only" tabs, and once remove-only tabs are emptied, they will disappear.
It doesn't make a bit of difference, guys. The balls are inert.
Others have tried explaining it, but I'll take a stab at it, too. :)

If you buy, for example, a Premium Quad Tab, then you receive a copy of it in every league. When a challenge league ends, you play in Standard. You got a Premium Quad Tab in Standard when you bought it. You also get another Premium Quad Tab from the challenge league when it ends. This copy - this duplicate, which you hadn't paid for - is made Remove Only.

In a few days when Bestiary League launches, you'll have the Premium Quad Tab you paid for - because you paid for a single copy of it in every league, and you will receive that.

The confusion often stems from the fact that people rename and reposition their stash tabs, and don't realise that this is done on a per-league basis. So the Standard League copy of your paid stash tabs might have default names (numbers), the default green background, and still be located back at the end (the far-right) of the stash as that's where they go when you first get them.

The Remove Only stash tabs are Path of Exile's equivalent to Diablo III's mail system which contains the contents of your Seasonal stash after it has expired. In Diablo III the mail expires after 30 days. In Path of Exile, the Remove Only stash tabs aren't time-limited.

After a few leagues your standard stash will be a nightmare to organize, if you care and haven't kept up.

Also of note, if you purchased currency, essence, card tabs, etc. they always seem to end up at the far right of your tabs in the new league (or maybe that's just me since they were some of the last tabs I purchased). You'll have to move them and rename them. They aren't missing.

If I recall rightly, specialty tabs (currency, divination, etc) always start on the right. At least from experience with Abyss, anyway. :) (I've purchased a couple of quads after I bought my currency tab)
