He could anyway, since they are higher level than the cast on damage taken they work as if they are unlinked. If the gloves werent so cheap he could sell a 4L pair & buy an unlinked pair to get more currency, but its probably not worth the hassle for 4L's (though it would be if you were short on fusings)
