i think the atmosphere is awesome BECAUSE of the music. the music fits perfect to the game style. i dont know how feel good music would fit in a cutthroat atmosphere. but i know it would be the first time i would turn the music off.
GGG keep on that style please. its the part i love the most on that game.

I think it helps serve more as a pacing mechanic. If the atmosphere is always tense then it will drag on the player and make the more important events like the piety fights seem just like any other fight. At least the home towns past lions watch i feel should be a bit more upbeat. I personally like the first zone because it really sets that depressing mood, which is apt for the situation. Sarn...probably should be a bit more upbeat given the lighting and general atmosphere of the city.

Sarn has some of the most uplifting music in the whole game within it. Have you listened to the song for the Warehouse District/Marketplace? It's so heroic sounding. I don't really think PoE is in need of specifically "upbeat" music either. It has a rather dark and dismal setting throughout, even in lighter areas.

First, I feel that comparing D2's music to PoE's music is fundamentally unfair.

Second, I feel that PoE's music integrates extremely well with the game.

Third, if you take the time to listen to D2's entire soundtrack, you will find many tracks that are background-oriented, repetitive, and generally not as gripping as the tracks highlighted in the OP. D2 had a handful of extremely well composed tracks that would stick with people, but not all of the tracks were such masterpieces.

I find the general atmosphere of Sarn to be tattered and crumbling. Just because there is sunlight, does not mean that the general mood is more positive. And I agree with Stormquake that PoE is not in need for any upbeat music, and I agree with PoorJoy that upbeat music has no place in PoE. Shades of optimism and heroism, yes. Upbeatness, no.
TY to those who called me out on my BS on these forums. There is no benefit to being so selfish as to fail to acknowledge others' differing beliefs of what "should be" or believe your own opinions so supreme as to be factual and thus dismiss others' opinions as being somehow a lie or delusional.

The zone, in which this music is played, is so small though :p I'd rather stand idle in Diablo 1 town then :D

1. I don't see why it would be fundamentally unfair to compare the music of poe to that of d2. Of course i understand that poe does not have the resources that blizzard has/had, but my point is not to say "poe music sux compared to d2!*@!!@!@". My point is just to give feedback on how to improve the music, nothing wrong with constructive criticm right?

2. 90% of the areas yes, but not in the towns (and as others pointed out, more in act 2 and 3 than 1)

3. I never said ALL of d2's music is as epic as the ones i listed, that was not my point at all. My point is purely that sometimes the atmosphere would improve (greatly) by hearing some less-tense music (feel-good or upbeat are probably not the right words to describe it, but i assumed my original post made the idea clear enough).

The atmosphere can still be 'dark' even with some less-tense or mood-lifting music thrown in there now and then (preferably (just) in towns).

I've left Lioneye's Watch music running in the background for half the day before.

I think that's the best track in the entire game.

Some of the other things aren't so good; Sarn's music in particular is not enjoyable to listen to.
I don't mean to sound rude, but I can't help the way people interpret my words.

I can listen to D1 musics all day long, but gain fatigue quickly if I turn PoE's on, could be the always humming noises that I don't know how to describe but the sounds are not clean even though good musics.

Btw my new favorite background musics are Fairy Tail OST.
You won't have my gear.
I actually like alot music from POE.Soundtrack that goes in first camp in act 1 and lunaris/solaris temple are really awesome.I dont want any of current soundtracks in game to change. But as for that type of music where u feel good, they could add them on act 4 when its released.Im not against it i just dont want any change to current soundtracks.I think GGG should borrow some of ambient sounds for act 4 from "planescape torment" :D.
