How Lightning Strike works with Dual Wield?
As the tread title stated, how does it work?
Does lightning strike occurs only with main hand weapon or it strikes for both main and off hand weapon? Or does it only strike once but damage scales with both weapon? Thanks! Edit: I actually went on POE wiki and read this -> "Dual wielding attacks with Lightning Strike will alternate the weapon being swung." I dont quite understand what that sentence means. It sounds like lighting strike will hit each time you swing each of your weapon? Last edited by AlbelV#3352 on Jan 28, 2013, 2:32:41 AM

That means:
Example: 1. attack: Main hand weapon swings 2. attack: Off-Hand weapon swings Repeat. |

If alternating between two weapons like this seems to you that it's pointless to use Lightning Strike when dual wielding, keep in mind that dual wielding gives you a multiplicative +10% attack speed bonus that is applied to all attacks. Just in case.

" Why do you say it's pointless to use lightning strike? If lightning strike applies to both one-handed weapons, I don't see why not. Could you elaborate pls? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! |

I do not say it's pointless, quite the contrary. I was making a statement that dual wielding has an inherent attack speed bonus no matter which skill you use with it, because I've seen a lot of people dismissing all skills that don't use both weapons while dual wielding.
So to reiterate, it's a perfectly valid skill for dual wielding, just as all of them are. |

Why would you use Lightning Strike when dualwielding?
It doesn't hit with both weapons at the same time. It alternates, why not use a shield since you only use one weapon each swing? -> because you get 10% increased attackspeed with DW, making LS DPS higher. IGN: Koettsnurr - Warband

" Right, that's what I was trying to say in a much more concise manner ^^ |

But in general, it would be wiser to go 1-handed weapon + shield for LS build right? Because I believe that dps increase is not justifiable compared to the survivability increase that you could have gotten from a shield and its relative passive.
This would be especailly true in HC league I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. |
