Zealots oath
" I dont think this would destroy it. You are still getting stunned very often I used CWS as Discharge trigger with volls/max block/CI character and it was working well. Block/stun recovery mods are needed IGN: Eric_Lindros

" Outright 50% chance to avoid being stunned at all? Tell me that's not broken. It's much bigger against larger hits and useless against smaller hits. Life based builds may have a much higher chance to avoid it, but that is based on how much life and armor they have. |

It couldn't be that broken. Been like that for the year I've been playing. Frankly, it'd be broken without it. Ever get hit by one of those titty bitches? Small hits but if you are an ES character, you usualy have minimal life and they can stun-lock you, even if only half the hits are stunning.

50% stun avoidance still leaves ES-based characters far more vulnerable to stun than any other viable builds I know of. Who else would give up a neck slot for Eye of Chayula? It even makes them more vulnerable to freeze, chill, and shock. Last 4-month league season, some people with ES builds would travel to the opposite side of the tree just for Unwavering Stance.
Zealot's Oath + a little ES for 50% stun avoidance on a life build means you gave up your life regen and have to have enough regen * ES to beat rounding. I don't know how much this is, but you're still giving up several passives and gear space for a 50% chance to avoid stun. It isn't broken. Not having 50% chance to avoid stun would be broken for ES builds. Last edited by KG31459#1353 on Feb 14, 2014, 1:11:52 PM

" Ok, I get the obvious synergy between these builds and Zealoth's Oath - but does that mean it is useless for a build investing only partially in ES? I don't know for sure with how many ES I'll end up with, but going for a block character there are a lot of nodes increasing ES from shields in between, not to mention all these "increased armour + ES" nodes, so it might be more than my life. I'd just like to know before I allocate towards Zealoth's Oath... scroogetemplar / scroogewitch / scroogemarauder

You get respec points through quests, allowing for 6 respec points per difficulty level, two per act, 18 in total. I doubt that taking ZO would take more than three or four passive points to get to, easily recovered through your respec quests.
I am currently making an Incinerate build Templar. The plan is to use Cybil's Paw, Pain Attunement, Ghost Reaver, Discipline/Vitality/Determination off mana w/ Blood Magic+Tempest Shield+Clarity+Reduced Mana (to get to "low life") all supported by aura passives, as high an Arctic Armor as I can support without too much degen while moving + max resists. Working a Cast When Stunned link of Enduring Cry+Molten Shell+Increased AoE. So far, so good. I just made it over to Ghost Reaver last night. Prior to reaching it I was using ZO + Rejuvenation Totem to maintain my ES as much as possible before the damage got into my life pool (have not made the switch over to Low Life yet, will in the next 4 or 5 levels, need to get Clarity up in levels or get a lower level Reduced Mana). I kept ZO + GR for a while, since Cybil's Life on Hit for spell hits was enough to top off the life bulb, and then dropped ZO in favor of actual life regen and noticed that I wasn't ever without at least some ES at the end of an encounter and the natural ES regen was more than enough to top off between packs. Just an anecdote to toss out for OP to consider. Side note: Incinerate+GMP+Mana Leech+Life Leech+Added Chaos is already borderline OP at my character level (59), I'm worried about how badly I'm going to "break the game" once I work in Pain Attunement's 30% MORE damage. Well, "worried" in an excited, can't wait to see it in action kind of way... |
