Increased Area of Effect works nicely and so will Cast With Damage Taken (even after it's 'nerf')
But I wouldn't put it in a Searing Touch; I'd use that for a more powerful fire spell. Hope this helps :) |

sorry should have mentioned, i wont actually be putting them in the staff, i only mentioned it for fire damage + spell damage on the staff, i did think about cast when damage taken but i prefer to cast it myself, and i don't want to take the damage reduction that comes with it

" Not more, increased. Concentrated effect gives more dmg. Chance to ignite, ele prolif and/or increased burning dmg could be nice, if u use searing touch, because there is also 70% increased burning dmg on the staff. |

Depends on what you want to do with it.
I use it to deal with charging enemies. I have a 4L setup molten-fire pen-faster cast-life leech. You can easily swap faster cast for conc. If you prefer the extra damage. |

Concentrated Effect, to drastically increase the damage it does.
Life Leech, to counter the physical damage you'll be taking. Increased Area of Effect, to counter the downside of Concentrated Effect. Fire Penetration, to penetrate resistances to increase the overall effectiveness. Faster Casting, to allow you to recast it when it detonates. I never use anything that lowers the damage of Molten Shell. Sure, it still gives you the same armor regardless of damage modifications, but that damage can leech back a huge amount of life. Roughly 5k per target within range, while leeching ~7.5%? It's a game changer. |

There are many possible ways to use molten. Elemental proliferation with chance to ignite is one way that can be really good. If you are standing close to a few mobs as it explodes you are almost guaranteed to get a nice burn going killing everything. Fire pen or life leach for your 4th link depending on how much damage you have in your skill tree and how you are planing on using it.

thanks guys, the comments are all really helpful,
I was setting it up for high damage high life return from leech, as well as the extra armour, like Z3roSh0t said its pretty much to stop charging enemies and to help survive situations when im surrounded etc |
