Is the Elder-Power wand damage skill cluster worth it?

The full cluster gives +86% physical damage with wands at a cost of 6 skill-points. If you skip the least effective one, its +82% physical damage for 5 skill-points (which is what I did).

However, I find that the physical damage on wands scales up much slower than the elemental damage of my spells. As a result I've been considering burning my respect-points to recover those 5 points and put them into elemental damage/spell damage skills instead.

Any thoughts?
This is why Kripparian's Wand Templar (build is posted in the Templar Forum) is almost completely defensive, save for a few +x% Elemental damage nodes. The elemental damage scales better, which means he can focus on elemental damage on gear and use Auras like Wrath, Anger, and Hatred to deal massive damage with Power Siphon and Power Charges. I don't think he even got any extra Critical Strike Chance or Critical Strike Damage nodes.

At this time it seems that having some lightning damage and Static Blows to stack shock is way more effective with Power Siphon's Culling Strike effect than trying to boost physical damage enough to one-shot mobs with Power Siphon.
