Map pack size and experience

I assumed that rolling pack size on a map increases the total experience earned due to there being more monsters. Someone told me that this isn't true because the monsters would give proportionately less xp in this case. What's the truth?

Pack size just means bigger packs, not reduced exp. I like rolling Pack Size and Magic, best combo of EXP.

Pack size is the best affix for xp and map drops. Good inhabitation or champ rolls are also good especially when mixed with pack size.

With the changes to maps I decided to chisel/alt maps this season instead of alch/chaos/chisel. Rolling pack size was a must to progress. I was able to get into the 76 tier playing solo/self found. I was not limited at 76 maps due to drops but rather play time.

Piling on:

Pack size, more magic monsters, more rare monsters, all good map mods for increasing EXP gained in a map.

Pack size + either or both of the two above is also a good way to increase your chances for higher level maps to drop due to the +1 or +2 to mob level as a magic or rare.

Anyone that tells you otherwise is either trolling or ignorant, possibly both.

I prefer + Magic more than +Rare. Magic gives 4x more EXP than whites, and Rares give 6X more than whites. Even at 50% more Rares, you're looking at an extra 2-4 Rares more at best. You get 6X exp for ONE mob. Whereas Magic mobs often spawn in groups, and with Pack Size, each and every one will give 4x more Exp. You just need 2 Magic mobs to override the benefit of 1 Rare mob.

Of course having all 3 affixes would be best, who doesn't know that :P
