Evasion in Passive-Tree useless?

Hi,

for 20% Increase of Evasion-Rate, my chance to evasion goes up only 2%!

When i look at the skilltree. i see many Evasion-Rate-Points (+10%, somtimes more).

Are this waste of points?

10% only bringt 1%!

So are the evasion-rate-point in the skilltree totaly useless and i should save my points for better skills?

Thanks for helping!

A point made about late game is that many abilities that are dangerous are essentially one shot kills. Evasion as such will get you killed x% of the time when hit with said ability, while armor would let you survive (assuming you're not getting hit by a stream of these instakills, in which case you're a dead puppy anyway).

Anyway, people tend to take iron reflexs and convert that evasion into armor.

Either way though, you'll want to mix in additional evasion/armor with bonus HP and/or elemental resists. It's about balancing your different forms of defense to synergize and cover all your bases.
So would you say "Iron Reflexes" is a must have in Endgame?

Would you say it is better to go for Armor insead of evasion?
I think you can pump your evasion higher by using armor that has only evasion (the single # is higher on leather than say a 50/50 evasion armor split like scale gives you). So your evasion % bonuses also benefit more from having a higher evasion number.

Then if you get iron reflexes, you're pumping up your armor pretty high - higher than you would be if your equipment had evasion/armor split.

I'm level 45, on Cruel act 3, and haven't taken iron reflexes yet... but that's as high as I give you for "late game".

No and no. Each have pros and cons. And neither is viable alone endgame. 10% increased evasion depends on the evasion your gear is providing, that's why you only see a 1%increase (add the fact enemies hace accuracy as well)
There's a separate evasion in your defense part of your (C)haracter tab

Right now i have:

36% chance to evade attacks (Double that on ranged attacks)
30% chance to doge attacks (Upgraded evasion with the nodes behind it in the passive skill tree)
20% chance to dodge magic attacks.

I know the build might get me in trouble late game... But that's a worry for then, lol. For now it works pretty good.
Shoep - Default league Ranger
Peohs - Any other class or character i play.
Jhuvik - My Marauder
Merialeth - My witch
I would rather place my bets on ARMOR rather than evade, I find that as you move up in ACT, creatures hit hard and rarely miss.

Moreover, you'll find yourself in situations where you will be overwhelmed by crowds of heavy hitting mobs. It's better to be able to tank a little in these encounters.

I would also rather pick armour over evasion or just take IR and go for full evasion gear because most of the times evasion gear has more evasion then armour gear armour.

The short answer is yes. You already get a lot of evasion% from Dex, and evasion has diminishing return. Unless you are using Iron Reflexes, Evasion passives should be ignored. Most Ranger builds are stuck with +48% Evasion from their starting nodes, so grabbing more evasion nodes yields very little return.

Which is a shame, really. I'd rather use 3 points on +50% evasion, but grabbing life nodes is simply more effective.

But this doesn't mean that Evasion is bad.
But when i choose Iron Reflexes, my Ranger would run very slow because of the Armour right?

Then, i need Armour Master right?
