Romira's Banquet and Voll's Protector
So here we have two items:
The former causes loss of all power charges on critical strikes while the latter causes a gain of power charges for each enemy hit with a critical strike. I assumed that since an attack/spell rolls if its a critical strike before it hits enemies, I'd first lose all power charges I had and then gain power charges from the enemies hit. After testing with a cold snap however, I found that I didn't get any power charges when hitting enemies with critical strikes (so the power charges were removed). Is this meant to happen, and can someone explain the logic? If anyone is wondering why I'd want to do this, it was to attempt a endless cold snap build with a good chance to crit without investing too much in crit chance. |

Sounds like its working as intended then, why would the crit not remove the power charge when you have an item that will do exactly that? Would be quite imbalanced otherwise?

" he also has an item that grants power charges on crit. so going by your definition that item is certainly NOT working as intended. although to be honest i think it's fine that it works like that because it would enable a massive endless discharge build. |

Well computers work in booleans and programs work with an order of operations.
Obviously, when you crit the computer asks these questions: Did you crit? yes. -infinite powercharge Did you crit? yes. +1 powercharge congrats, you now have -infinity + 1 powercharge, which I'm sorry is still equal to less than one they never said you lose powercharges equal to the amount you already have, they said you lose them all, so if you lose an infinite amount at the same time that you gain 100, you still have less than 0 |

" It does sound right if both events are calculated at the same time. I just find that surprising, given the wording on both pieces. Appreciate the answer though :) |

Voll's wording is primarily to distinguish it from PCoC, gaining a power charge for each critical-hit, rather an once per cast when a hit occurs. It's a little ambiguous, yes.

So, I know this is quite an old post but I've done some tests and here's something to help any other passerbys (such as myself a few hours ago).
Romira's Banquet is the last item to take effect in any situation. Given that, cold snap + romira wont be really usefull unless you use resolute technique, BUT, cast on critical (or any other gem) will take effect b4 romira's banquet, opening room for an auto cast discharge build. Also, voll's protector power charge on critical will take effect in this build, but it will be used up after all gems proc. So, to put it in a time line For each Non critical attack hit: Attack -> Supported gems (including triggers e.g CwDT, CoC. CwS) -> Reflect -> Romira's power charge For each Critical attack hit: Critical attack -> Voll's Power Charge -> Supported gems (including triggers e.g CwDT, CoC. CwS)-> Reflect -> Romira's power charge dissipation. So in any case romira will leech off your power charges, but that can be exploited if used correctly. |

" there are 2 ways to make an endless coldsnap build first volls sucks !!! 1. you need romira and resolute 2. you need romira and doedres flask and low overall critchance keep in mind freeze depends on dmg dealt so getting a few k dps out of your coldsnap is mandatory if you want to freeze in higher maps and dualcurse is a must have https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/.
