No crit, no RT - still viable?

I'm playing a Reave Marauder, and I noted that it costs me ~6-7 points to go for Resolute Technique (see skill tree below, I could respec out of phys dmg and walk some str nodes to RT), but I'm also sitting on a ton of %accuracy from my skilltree and sword.

Is it viable to just skip RT? What accuracy value will I need lategame to stay at ~90% chance to hit?

I have 300 Acc on my helmet, I guess I could get the same number out of rings, amulet, gloves, sword?

It's not that I encounter any problems right now, it's just that I want to know: will I get away without RT?

The Shield is shit, don't even need the resistances, but I didnt find a good one so far.
The rest is selffound and/or selfcrafted (I 5linked a chest with 12 fusings, hooray, and got these stats with 1 alch, hooray!), only the sword is bought for the only Exalted I've found so far...

*More Life (~70% located very near)
*More Armor (Marauder, Duelist Area)
*More Shieldblock (still 8% in near distance to grab)
*2 Endurance Charges, 2 Frenzy Charges
*Unwavering Stance, Iron Reflexes (prefer 30% evasion right now over ~45% Armor reduction)
*Maybe 1 more Swordcluster (next to Ranger or down at Duelist on the right of the resistance-nod)

It will take you more than 6-7 points to get enough accuracy, just go for RT :) You NEED to hit with Reave else your aoe is shit.

I got so far:
327 Dex = ~650 flat Accuracy
+300 flat Accuracy on Helmet
Sword +18% Accuracy
"Versatility" +20%, 1 point (would have taken anyway because of 20 Int for Concentrated Effect)
"Finesse" +20%, 1 point (would have taken anyway because of 8% attack speed)

-> 1800 Accuracy, 90% to hit on Reave at Level 69
(I must have overlooked something, that doesnt add up to 1800 I think ^^ Do I get Flat Accuracy at Lvl1?)

More Accuracy, really easy to grab:
+12% for 1 point, on the way to "Brutal Blade" (Ranger Area)
+28-36% in 4-5 Points, Legendary Swordsman Cluster (left of 2% Lifeleech "Blood Drinker")
+300 Accuracy on at least another item (ring, amulet, gloves), if I really want, +1200 flat Acc.

I know Reave must hit to build up AoE, but with enough Attackspeed and Multistrike Gem this isnt an issue at all. You get your 8 Reave Charges in 1-2 seconds.

I know that almost any Melee build that doesnt go for crit includes RT, but with the 58% Accuracy I already have, I really hesitate to invest these 7 points in just "60 Str + RT". 7 points mean a lot in Endgame.

I think you should invest 5 passives points in crit instead :



Your crit chance will be 7,5% and your crit multiplier will be 255%. With those numbers, you'll only need about 89% chance to hit to outdamage RT. And if you get an amulet with decent crit multiplier and a sword with local crit chance, then RT won't even stand a chance (in term of dps).

With your current passives tree and gear, you'll reach 89% chance to hit without much problems.

Btw, you get +1 accuracy per level.

Just go RT lol, you can't get enough crit to make any crit nodes worth it.

73 now, and since I didnt encounter any near-death-experience in my maps so far, I went for even more damage... ;)

Holy shit, I have a lot of Dex!
(next 2 points: +8%, 12% life, still running mixed defenses because why not?)

I bought a cheap amulet (who the f... needs spellblock, get away from me, Stone of Lazhwar) with a lot of Int and Accuracy and a cheap shield with 36% Block and I'm sitting pretty now... :)

I was considering something like this too, thx for providing the math...

But I think it is even worth it without crit...

Going RT would cost me 7 skillpoints.
I would get RT and 60 str = little life, +12% dmg.

I would have to respec out of:
*3 points in marauder starting area = 35% melee damage
*4 points of damage in another area, lets say Blademaster cluster = 48% damage, 10% attackspeed

So I trade "83% damage, 10% attackspeed and 92% to hit" for "30 life, 12% damage, 100% to hit".
Sounds like a fair deal to me... ;)

And some more Upgrades... Turned 80 yesterday and finished my "build".

If I go on with him in the last days of Domination league, I will go for 4% more Shieldblock between marauder and Duelist and the 2 Armor nodes in Duelist area...


Equip:

Major Upgrades have been: Alched these gloves, found these boots, bought the gold ring.

I still would be happy to find a better sword (270 dps was nice at 55, now it's a bit low), armor and shield (more armor, 6 links) or even Bringer of Rain, but I guess I will not be able to save up the curency needed for real Upgrades in those few days...
And it works okay, I can easily clear all maps I have played so far.

So: totally happy with this build, I like the "old school" approach.
No specific uniques, no keystones required, didn't go for an "all life nodes" tree
...just go in there and hit them hard.

DPS is about 19000 with Hatred, accuracy rating 93%, life ~4200, armor ~25% without granite flask, shield block somewhere in the 60s.
