Beginner AoE builds?

I started a witch, but messed it up quite a bit. I'm looking for some affordable builds for a beginning player. I just don't want to play a character that is single target based. High DPS with survivability would be ideal! Anyone suggestions are appreciated and I will check out the builds in forums.

Witch may be a tougher class to start because they are a bit out of the way of any life.

That being said, a decent build that can be done is freeze pulse. CI crit freeze pulse is quite good but the downside is that it does require a few Exalted to make work. (For Dream Fragments and Eye of Chayula). However once you have those items and get over the terrible early and mid game of the class you will start to see a drastic power increase around 60-70 which is about when you should spec into IC. Though it can be argued that decent gear is nice, it isn't necessary since you can easily play strategically since you're able to slow and freeze targets. I also am pretty much you can get every gem you could need from just simply progressing through the game.

If you don't mind re-rolling, a split arrow physical dps ranger works great. They are cheap, easy to make, easy to play, very powerful.

Really, of all the classes I've tried to roll, the ranger has been the least worrysome. Issues like desync (which plague this game) are far less noticeable with a ranged class.

flameblast is an excellent leveling aoe if you're gonna be stubborn with witch. pulse has a lot of specific gear and gem requirements even while leveling...and CI is impossible to afford on your first char without rmt. all flameblast needs is faster cast. zombies and/or decoy totem to round up a big crowd, blow them all up

later in the game, you can drop minions entirely and use a large aoe prolif cold snap to freeze the screen, and a large aoe flameblast with chance to ignite to burn everything down


if you're willing to reroll, spectral throw is even easier than split arrow. all you need is any random high dps 2h you pick up and start chucking. bow builds in general need really good accessories to do high dps. ...in fact ST is so stupidly op for leveling, I've known pure summoners who level with it til a3nm....


burned miscreation summoner, wrath/anger lightning arrow, ground slam, rain of arrows, and ethereal knives are also good choices for a first char aoe
