Mouse pointer
|
This is probably intentional, but I feel that with the cursor being half dark and half bright, I usually see only half of the cursor. I know the advantage is that I see a half of it no matter what the background is, but still, for me it feels kinda weird seeing only half the cursor.
Using another approach like using outline may work better. About letting the player chooses their own cursor though, you can give us an option to use Windows' cursor. I think adding a UI for custom cursor support is a bit too much. |

Can the mousepointer change his color depending on his position?
If you move the mouse over an enemy the pointer becomes red, when moving over an useable object like a chess it change it color to yellow? Maybe this would reduce the times I move to the enemy instead of attacking him with my left mouse :) | |

Just wanted to resurrect this thread that was created in september 2011 because today, april 1st 2013, I am still running 1280x800 on a 2560x1600 30" monitor just so I don't lose my mouse cursor position in party play and end up suiciding my char and/or unable to grab my loot before others do.
The difference in visual quality between those two resolutions is obviously huge so it's a big sacrifice. The pointer is TINY at 2560x1600, and still too small at 1920x1200. The chosen screen resolution ideally should not influence pointer size but it does. It's also not a good colour because it blends in with the background. Mouse speed should ideally scale with resolution but it does not - the lower I set the resolution the faster the pointer is in PoE, forcing me to reduce the speed 2 notches in windows, before starting the game. It would be great if this could be fixed, while PoE is still in beta. Last edited by Roenie#7869 on Apr 1, 2013, 10:40:48 PM

While I don't agree with necro in general, this thread has specific comments from GGG.
The dozen or so newer posts have all failed to attract a response from GGG. GGG, is this being looked at?? IGN: Kulde

" Ok, off topic but I still don't think necro'ing is the right way to do this. Start a new thread and link the ancient thread and maybe just quote and date the GGG posts it the new post. OT, I also find myself losing the mouse pointer far too frequently. It doesn't contrast enough with the background and player graphics. There is nothing wrong with resurrecting threads if they are as relevant then as they are now. For me the mouse pointer issue is one of the many small details I feel the devs could fix in a week to week patch.
If they don't want to add a whole new UI item then they can make the file easy to access so we can replace it with our own sprites. The default mouse color, size and shape are terrible for this game and it blends in with half the area color schemes in the game if you play on a high res. |
