Map drops biased towards map host?

The only exception is "unique maps" since they are considered "unique" before "map" by the game engine, and are therefore allocated randomly and not to the map host only.

and yes, it makes public party's a lot easier. There used to be a unspoken rule of "m2m" meaning "map to maker", but not everybody in a public party could be trusted with this rule-set.

I am quite happy with the current implementation.

It was never unspoken in my experience. Either you said it explicitly or you could expect people to violate it. Even when you said it, some people were jerks and took them anyways.

Well it was common knowledge for most players, i have had times where i pointed out a map to the host instead of picking it up, and the entire party did the same.

That where the party's where i stayed to play for a while :).

And yes, obviously jerks will ruin that sense of honor. This usually resulted in a kick/ team disband. Sadly...

But yes your point is valid (it was usually mentioned in the public party tittle (M2M) )
But was not uncommon to be frowned upon when violated even if not mentioned.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
