How to maximize spectral throw hits per sec?
my theory is to try duelwielding rapiers, they have a large hit range which i'm assuming affects the hit box of the projectiles and they have high attack speed.
good idea/bad idea? IGN: OldManBalls (Warbands)

as far as I know ST doesn't care about weapon range at all.
Also Dual Wielding doesn't make much sense, as you'd alternate weapons while trowing. Fast attackspeed/tick-speed also doesn't do much. The only reason to go for that is if you want to proc something (on crit), and then dagger are better, and still there is no reason to dualwield. The only reason why high attackspeed ever was important is elemental dmg, and that got kinda nerfed to the ground and physical got buffed into the heavens... |

Weapon range does determine projectile size which is useful but not a selling point. You want to use high-damage 2H weapons for ST so you get projectile size either way.
To get the most hits per second dual wield is the way to go, true, but for most dps it's 2H all the way. As for support gems, stay away from faster projectiles, it doesn't work good with ST. Pn the other hand, slower projectiles should give more hits per pass but it's really hard to tell and it reduces your range much, you might level one of those and give it a try in high levels. 2 handers have a larger hit box.
Projectile speed make it go further so it takes the return projectile longer to hit mobs close to you but it will take out mobs at the edge of screen and beyond. Cheap way to get projectile speed without wasting a socket is the amulet below. I situationally replace the amulet with others depending on if I want extra range or not. Fight censorship

turns out that a larger weapon seems to spin slower, either way I tested it it ends up being same hits per mob
OR it was just my imagination... but I still couldn't manage to hit close mobs more than once, I didn't test slower projectiles because all my links are already accounted for IGN: OldManBalls (Warbands)

you would get highest hits per sec by using a 2 handed weapon + slower projectiles gem( the lower the projectile speed is the more times spectral throw will spin in same place - with level 20 gem it basically spins at same spot before returning)

2-handed with high damage, faster attack speed. Taking faster attack speed nodes. Projectile damage nodes as well.
You can, if you manage, get a 1-handed with ALOT of elemental damage. I've seen one build that had 10k damage on spectral throw. |

2 handed weap/thrusting sword +no projectile speed+slower projectiles+knockback will give you the most hits per spectral throw.
