What do you think of Act 3?

Act 3 is a little bit disappointing to me, I'm not having as much fun as I had in the first two Acts.

Loots have been terrible for me, Uniques mobs and Bosses dropping white items, occasional blue ones, barely any rares and 0 uniques so far. I'm not disappointed that I haven't gotten any unique, they are unique after all. But damn, Unique mobs dropping white items and at least 2 blue items? extremely disappointing. As for rares, throughout my entire journey in Act 3 I've encountered a LOT less than I did in the previous acts.

The areas are MASSIVE, I don't mind that the areas are 4x the size of the ones in previous acts but sometimes a little bit too much isn't good, too much unnecessary travelling just to end up in a dead end. I know a lot of you like that the areas are a lot larger, but it's only fun if you get interesting loots (which I don't) and good exp. I am amazed at the quality of Act 3 in terms of aesthetics, but after spending about an hour in a single area, it get's old and boring.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I was exploring Lunaris Temple Level 1-2 they were alright, not too large. Found the waypoint immediately in Level 2, but Level 3, wow it's too large, too many dead ends. I loved the dead bodies, tit monsters and all the messed up things found here, but again, after 40+ mins of trying to find my way to Piety it gets boring as hell, that 40 mins was spent on the area that has rivers of blood, I then spent another 20 mins slashing my way through the "prison cell area" then eventually getting to the portal. As soon as I took the portal, Piety was there and as soon as she started talking, the game was NOPE! you spent an hour trying to get here? CRASH. After that I just couldn't be bothered to walk my way through all that crap again, since Level 2 was already reset, by the time I get to the stairs leading to Level 3 it would have reset already.

The mobs, some of them needs balance. Some of the mobs have too much life regeneration to the point where they out-regenerate my damage! that is insane. The only way I was able to kill these bastards is if I magically pull out criticals outta my ass. Also, the Arc mobs in the Barracks.. nerfing the range on their Arc would be great, by the time I get near enough to kill them, all of my ES has been depleted and I have half HP remaining.

I don't usually vent out like this, I have never complained anything about the game ever since I was in the CB but Act 3 was a little different. It felt like there was a massive difficulty jump between Act 2 and Act 3.

I think that Act 3 is amazaing. I do agree with you in that it needs some balancing, but so far I am more in awe than anything. I also noticed the lack of drops. It has been a while since I've played so maybe I recall things a little different, but I was getting my ass kicked in ACT 3 until I was lucky enough to find a good rare bow for my ranger. I do not mind though since it makes the game challenging a bit more hard core.

The maps...very big. The main issue that I see is that the waypoints are hidden(or I have the worst luck ever). This combined with the fact that the mobs can be challenging if you don't find good drops, can really be a pain. It would be nice if in some areas the waypoints were a little closer to the entrance like in the earlier acts. That way if you die and did not TP up you do not have to walk all the way to the area you were in just because you could not find the waypoint. Not in all areas of course, since I sincerely like a good challange, but the starting areas of ACT 3 have been a bi*ch for me.

I am not too worried about it though. I am sure that given time they will make everything better. They always do...

Good post OP.

General such and such has the strongest molten shell ever. So easy to get one shotted.
But on topic I find areas to be a little to big aswell.
The new abilities on monsters were nice to see. I hate that bear trap monkey guy.
The difficulty come more from the spells than any thing. Melee got shotgunned and shock stacked.
The boss fights were fun.
Drops seemed low

I think Act 3 sucks... if you're a summoner. ;3

Nah, A3 is awesome. Love the urban setting. Wish GGG would implement a cosmetic purchase that reskins that entire act to make Sarn look like what it may have looked like in the golden days before it fell into ruin. Why? I'm fascinated with ancient ruins and I always wondered how beautiful ruined cities and castles would've looked like when it was still being occupied and maintained.

Lunaris temple for instance. Wouldn't it be awesome to see what it looked like before Piety turned it into an imitation Durance of Hate?

5/5 bretty good
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I'm not a fan of Act 3 either. The zones are very big and really changes the feel of the game compared to A1 and A2. Also, the monsters, such as the statues make it feel like Greek mythology and this game isn't Greek Mythology based.

It went from dark and gritty to bright and colorful. Feels like I'm playing Titan Quest in Act 3.

I highly suggest changing Act 3 a bit.

Seeing all these posts, majority of us can agree on one thing: the maps being too big.
I think trying to improve this alone can solve the issues I have with Act 3.
4/10

Here is why:

Act 1 and Act 2 are decent not too long and not too short, but Act 3 feels like they realized how small the content of Act 1 and 2 where and just tried to fit 2 acts into 1. Act 3 is a pain in the ass that just feels like it drags and drags, keep in mind that not everyone has hours upon hours to clear maps just for a waypoint or a quest, keep that in mind, because as more players get to Act 3 on normal/cruel the more complaints we will be having. If anything they should just remake Act 3 into a size that follows Act 1 and 2, and just release a 4th act. I don't know why neither this or D3 have more than 3 acts, is there some sort of rule for that or what?
I really liked the idea of a huge map at the end of act 3.

Truth is, I love act 3. I love it's musics, I love the aesthetic, I love the monsters there (except for statues that are slightly too spongy).

I wouldn't mind GGG reducing the average size of maps in act 3, but i'm fine with the current state.

They plan to add one act every year, for the next 10 (or so) years.
And I'm pretty sure Diablo 3 had 4 acts, last time I played it.

Here's what I learned from playing act 3 normal: After you do enough quests, you'll get keys which give you access to the sewers. Why is that good? The sewers are in every zone in act 3 and you can travel the entire city through them. Carrion bugs and queen too difficult to deal with? Travel underground!
