ST will boost SB to level 21, giving it a base damage of 1842.4 DPS

A perfect ST provides a bonus of 40% Fire and 70% Burning Damage, for a total increase of 110%, so

1842.4 + (1842.4 x 110%) = 2026.64 DPS. <----------- WRONG!

By contrast, the GL staff boosts SB to level 26, giving it a base damage of 2786.4 DPS

A perfect GL staff gives 30% Fire damage, so

2786.4 + (2786.4 x 30%) = 3622.32 DPS, or a 78.73% increase in DPS over a PERFECT ST.

1842.4 + (1842.4 x 110%) = 3868 DPS ....not 2026 DPS. add next time ;)

Conclusion: use searing touch cause it more than doubles damage.
Spoiler
i would set it up like:
Searing Bond + increased burn damage + fire pen + Life Leech (so totems never die) + culling or elemental prolif (if it works)
Edit: i just realized most of those benefit from the +2 lvl from searing touch staff ^^

Your links won't work
Life leech is on hit, searing bond doesn't hit
Fire pen won't work (same as above)
Proliferation doesn't work (searing bond doesn't cause a status effect)

Instead I would go with searing/inc burning damage/spell totem in a +2/+3 fire SCEPTRE and dual wield it with a doon cuembiyari (sp?)

A sceptre can have 20 elemental+ 30 fire, add another 15 from doon and another 50-60 from str and you have 115 and on doon you can put whatever you want for another massive boost.

The best about the above is that almost everything also increases LW damage

I will be using searing touch for 5L searing bond. Don't forget that Searing Touch has +2 fire gems on it already. Your suggestion cuts me from 5-6L searing bond to 3L, for the gain of +1 gem levels, and at the cost of that huge burning damage bonus.

Bad advice is bad Sachiru.

Staves can roll the +6 to gem levels. The Scepter advice is only for a cheap build, and staves can roll a 6Link.

My mistake on the math, I apologize.

3869 DPS is on PERFECT searing touch. The + to level Staves does not require perfect rolls.

Staves are a greater benefit over Searing because they can roll the Glyphic prefix, which is a 110% spell damage boost, on top of the 'Of Ashes' suffix.

If you use Elemental Equilibrium and Ancestral Bond, you can utilize a Lightning Warp totem as your secondary. Searing Bond's beams will propagate to the Lightning Warp totem, but not trigger EE. The Lightning Warp totem will jump around enemies, shocking them for lightning damage (which is boosted by Glyphic on your staff), and triggering EE, to provide a 50% Fire Resistance Penalty.

Alternatively, you can use Fire Trap on your 5L Glyphic Staff, linked as such

Searing Bond + Empower + Increased Burning Damage + Fire Trap + Fire Penetration.

This gives you two sources of fire DPS, since the burning ground effect from Fire Trap is considered as a spell and is affected by Increased Burning Damage, however it stacks with Searing Bond's Beam damage. The singular staff benefits two gems that way.

Sceptre can also roll +6. Doon+sceptre has more damage that staff+inc burning damage support.

Spell+elemental damage is also higher on doon+sceptre.

Really, staff is great when you need the links, but for searing bond you don't need them so doon is better (unless you want to link iir on searing, nthen yeah you need staff, but then searing touch is better)

Which is great for Searing Totem, which doesn't deal Spell Damage. :p
Nice for Warp, but I reckon the main source of damage will be SB. A perfect Staff will outdo ST a bit, but, eh.

Stack SB with Fire Trap or other spells that benefit from Spell Damage.

Building around a single spell, without considering other utility spells, is overspecialization.

Ofcourse, but what is he gonna link to searing bond in a 5L searing bond? He is running one searing bond, they don't stack anymore anyways, and better off using the spell damage for his 2 lightning warp totems. There is a decent amount of easily accessible burning damage in the tree.

This is my build at level 66. I'm going triple totem usually 3 searing bond or 2 with a lighting warp. Lighting warp can take the beam off screen and keep you from taking any dmg. I'm using ST 4 L with fire trap, fire pen, searing bond, increased burning dmg. I have listed 6608dps on lvl 15 searing and i have 1058 lvl 16 fire trap dot. Im in to library merc and going strong.

"Searing bond no longer stacks damage from multiple beams. The damage of Searing Bond has been increased by around 400%." Using 3 is useless.

I do plan to take it down to 2 if i find a good chest piece but being able to make a grid of death is pretty nice. The build is mostly left over from before the changes. If i was going to start it fresh i would probably make is tanky as fuck with molten shell and walk the beam in, but who has time for that.
