As queen points out above, when i start a new char I end up with many stash tabs of hammers for future mapping. They are very easy to come by.

A lot depends on how developed your set of characters are, how much you like/dislike trade, etc.

I am 100% self-found - I cant stand trading. so rushing a toon trhough act 1 is preferable to me, even though I Have a Hillock farming setup that farms about 1 alt/minute.

Getting a new toon through Act 1 if you skip the Fetid Pool, the Allflame and similar side quests is really pretty fast with a pair of +20% Movement Speed boots. A Scion with spectral throw and a semi-decent weapon mows down everyting in Act 1 without worrying much about skill points or other gear.

I have like 3 stash tabs of these things already. Debating whether I should start qualitying all of them.

I see people selling on Dom for 6 for a chaos. You can maybe get 3-5 for 1c if they're 20q.

I gotta wonder why people have trouble with Blacksmith's Whetstones. so easy to farm. I have one extra stash tab for it - after each map if I have unused portals, I run through and just pick up the superior weapons and drop them on that tab - it just takes a minute or two - and when full I get 6-8 Whetstones out of the lot. 4 20q Hammers is 16 Whetstones - that's worth a Chaos? I'll have to reconsider my aversion to trading.
